Nature Journaling Walk + Workshop

Nature Journaling is using words, pictures and numbers to record your observations, questions, connections and explanations in a notebook. It is a fun and powerful practice which helps us slow down, pay attention, notice more and get curious.

Portrait Drawing From Life

Each 6-week session will have a different portrait model holding one sustained pose throughout. This will allow sufficient time to study aspects of portrait drawing such as proportion, structure, light, form, and expression.

Wildlife Photography Workshop

Join wildlife photographers Victor Sulakvelidze and Marco Scocco for an immersive photography workshop at the London Wetland Centre, blending practical field techniques, storytelling, and a deeper understanding of wildlife behaviour. This hands-on session focuses on observing and anticipating animal behaviour, making confident in-field decisions, and developing stronger visual narratives in real shooting conditions. Suitable for beginner to intermediate photographers, the workshop offers a supportive and engaging environment to build both technical skills and creative confidence while exploring the rich wildlife of the centre.

Weekend Art Club

Studio Sessions are our fabulous weekend art clubs. An advanced but friendly art club, in which artist and director of Wurkshop, Hayley Steedman, will focus on each individual's projects and requirements. Some students will come with their GCSE or A-level projects to work on; others will be looking towards scholarships or art competitions; many students will just want to indulge their love of art and developing new skills. This is a class for students who are serious about their art and keen to learn core skills, with a focus on both drawing, painting and sculptural skills. With a library of art books, printing facilities, ceramic kiln and sewing machines to hand, students can expect to be taught a range of mediums geared towards progressing their own projects and techniques. All ages are welcome but this is a positive and focused place to indulge your love of art rather than a social club.

Sing and Sign baby class

Baby signing and singing classes helping babies communicate before speech. Classes are small (5–8 babies) in a friendly, supportive environment. Run by Angela Connell, qualified teacher.

OSO Youth Theatre

Weekly drama sessions for children aged 6–11 exploring voice, movement, storytelling and ensemble work. Leads to an end-of-term performance. Subsidised places available for low-income families via the Barnes Community Association.

Barnes Philosophy Club

Monthly public talks with professional philosophers on a wide range of philosophical topics. Supported by the Royal Institute of Philosophy. Also available to watch online via Zoom.

Drawing and painting with joy

Explore ways of drawing and painting with joy and confidence. Various techniques covered including pencil, watercolour, pastel and acrylic. Suitable for beginners and those wishing to develop existing skills.

Writers' Studio

A weekly workshop-style course for writers of all levels, run at OSO Arts Centre in the heart of Barnes village. Each week explores different aspects of the craft in a friendly, supportive environment. Whether you are just starting out or looking to develop your existing skills, this course provides a strong foundation and a creative community to grow with.

OSO Actors' Studio Summer 2026 - Acting Skills

All levels welcome to this workshop-style course. A new topic every week to sharpen your acting skills in a friendly, fun and supportive environment. Across 8 weeks (11 May – 29 Jun 2026) you will study a range of acting skills including exercises, scene studies, Shakespeare, Objectives & Tactics, Auditions & Self Tapes, and Monologues. Maggie Marie provides feedback and leads group discussions.

Dementia-Friendly Morning: Creative and Sensory Activities

A dementia-friendly morning offering creative and sensory activities including refreshments, talks, exploring authentic Regency hats and home objects, and painting. Designed for those living with mild to moderate dementia and their companions. Carers and companions attend completely free of charge.
